Re: The Kingdom of Qinlo (Score: 1) by Sutemi on Wed, August 14, 2013 (User Info | Send a Message) | Thank you so much for the comment Sir Xaris! If it's ok, I would like to comment the things you have mentioned.
The princess ruling over larger island: Due to the technological level and various circumstances, the vast majority of the people need to be farmers (referring to 3.5. DMG page 137). The Kanlal tribe took Haiapo as their own private space (which is not so private anymore) and built their wondrous city there. In order to maintain all this, a horde of peasants is required. Thus, the entire Adda is a peasant community.
There's lots of prestige to hold power in Haiapo, which is sustained by the less prestigious Adda. This isn't about space, at least from my point of view. The Princess of Adda is ultimately subservient to her father, the King, who enjoys the city life and leaves the matters of the peasants to the Princess. Touv consider other factors before looking at hectares. I can honestly say that I wasn't considering who has the biggest island at all, but it's a very good point you brought up Sir Xaris! Is Washington the largest city in the USA? If not, then why does it have the White House? ;)
Not being seafarers: They have cleared the lands hundreds of years ago to have farming land (according to my estimate they need it badly, due to the population size and the city). The mainland is a quite different place, a pure jungle. The islands have never had that kind of thick, merciless jungle. They have a bit different soil in the islands.
Thank you again Sir Xaris!
