I enjoyed most of your ideas surrounding the sword itself.
It's history was well thought out, but awkward, and it's power is just more than what belongs in Greyhawk IMO.
I consider Platemail and similiar to be of a high rarity let alone an artifact that bestows similiar protection freely? Along with other god like powers?
Never in my 13 years of AD&D have I ran across something this seemingly powerful.
I just can't buy it, but as I said I like the ideas. Perhaps a tone down...
