Posted on Thu, July 04, 2002 by Tizoc
Nellisir writes "Whitefire and darkfire stand as twin monuments to Menioth's research, one illustrating the power she has lost with her undeath, the other an example of her new path into darkness.

Menioth's crowning achievement, her transformation to a drakkaren has robbed her of the ability to cast whitefire. Nystul certainly has a copy of this spell, as do several others of Menioth's acquaintance.

Menioth’s Whitefire
Evocation
Level: Sor/Wiz 8
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 action
Area: Close 25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels burst centered on you
Duration: Instantaneous
Saving Throw: Yes (See below)
Spell Resistance: Yes

Upon casting this spell, a fiery wave of positive energy bursts from you and expands to the maximum area, instantly destroying undead and stunning the living.

This spell destroys 1d6HD worth of undead per caster level (maximum 20d6). Undead with the fewest HD are affected first; among creatures with equal HD, those who are closest to the caster are affected first. Undead that make a successful Fortitude save, or possess more HD than can be affected, instead suffer 1d4 points of positive energy damage per caster level (maximum 20d4). Living creatures within the area of effect are not injured, but must save or be stunned for 1 round per caster level from the blast of energy.
Material Component: The powder of a crushed diamond with a minimum value of 750gp.

Since becoming undead, Menioth has adapted many spells to utilize negative energy or shadow energy (the dark counterpart to brilliant energy).

Menioth’s Darkfire

Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)

A successful Fortitude save reduces damage by half. Undead and constructs are unaffected by the shadow energy.
Material Component: Ash from the plane of shadow.
