    I agree that Alhamazad could be an interesting figure if developed further. As he stands though, I think that he is far too stereotypically "arabian". Also, his avowed hatred of the Suel disturbs me, since Mordenkainen generally chooses more level headed associates.

    I think the idea in publsihed material that racism is ok if it's aimed at the suel is rather trite. Most of humanity has other things to worry about than where their neighbor came from. Humanoids, devils and other monsters are much more likely targets for prejudice.

    Also, I like the idea that there are varied human races in the Flanaess but that they, for the most part they get along somewhat well. I think national orgin would be a far more realistic source of tension than ethnic stock. Sure, everyone hates the folk from the TIlvanot region, but not because they are Suloise, because they are Scarlet Brothers. (Stereotypically at least, I don't reckon all or even most of the people of the Tilvanot hold those ideals that the SB heralds).

    Alhamazad just strike me as yet another example of lazy design by Sargent/Moore, "ooh, he's Baklunish, better make him hate the Suel".
