I can see your point about encouraging, however futiley, WotC to resume publishing Greyhawk material, but remember that Canonfire is a Greyhawk fansite, not a D&D fansite, per se. We aim to please the Greyhawk fan regardless of edition.

It's always been my thought that if an article/document is good enough, it doesn't matter what edition it's in anyway. If someone wrote up the definitive, be-all end-all treatise on the spider monkey cults of the Amedio Jungle, for example, I'd use the ideas even if it was written in 3e rules. I can rewrite the mechanical aspects rather quickly, it's the fresh ideas that I look for.

I think one of the strong points (inadvertant or no) of Greyhawk is that it promotes a more self reliant DM. Other settings spoon feed us everything we need, then rehash and spoon feed it again when a new edition of the game arises. Greyhawk fans don't have that luxury, and in my experience are far more proficient at doing their own conversions than users of the more developed settings. Greyhawk fans don't need everything handed to them "plug n play" style (although that is nice now and then, I admit) and are not as averse to reading material for the setting that doesn't fit the edition of the game they play.

There is, alas, one strong reason to endorse 3e as the edition of choice for canonfire materials, and that is the ability to attract newer players. 3e fans will be more likely to stop by and check out 3e material, but again, I think the very fact a newer play has forsaken the Forgotten Realms, or Ebberon, or Scarred Lands, or Dragonlance (or whatever) and turned to Greyhawk means that they are already prepared for a less spoon fed world and probably more open to creating their own material or borrowing and adapting that of others to flesh out their world. There's also the benefit of having a comments engine (like this) on every article and an active forum and email discussion list tied to this website that make questions about converting this or that easier to find answers for.

All in all, Greyhawk fans are a resourceful bunch who in general aren't afraid to get down and dirty with a conversion of material they like. Don't underestimate the users here, and don't fall prey to the temptation to ignore an article wholesale because it's written in an edition you don't use. I say this equally to the 3e fans and the 1e/2e/whatever fans.
