I admit, as much as they have been overused over the past 10-15 years or so, Dorw are still my fav. Not neccessarilty the Drow of FR, but the possibilities of the Drow of Oerth. In my mind they are noticably different then the Drow of FR... ask me how, I'm not all quite sure... they just are. Maybe beacuse I think Drow under the Flanaess as a bit more savage and less refined. Also, I find them to be more secluded and not able to establish massive empires like their counterparts.

I had to roll with the ever so cunning Troglodytes who are forever ambushing parties of heroes only to be slaughtered, lol...

it was a tough one, because I realy like Troglodytes, and feel that theya re under utilized, however, my personal favorite intelligent under ground race is the aboleth, and so I picked other.

I fell in love with the Svirfneblins when I purchased my first FF back in the early eighties.

And the 3.5 edition does them justice.

Well Ichose the Derro because they are suppose to be unique to the Greyhawk setting. however i also enjoy the Duegar. But the Derro got my vote I like their view and their chaotic behavior it is a complete opposite from their dwaven brethen. What are drow they don't even exist? LOL

Umber Hulks, Hook Horrors and Xorn aren't 'races', they're monsters. And whatever happened to orcs and goblins? They're underdark races as well but seem to have been forgotten and evolved into forest dwelling barbarian races. And the kobold... how could you forget the kobolds?

Cloakers, IMO, have been overlooked for a long long time. So much could be done with an organized cloaker society. Instead they're usually portrayed as simply living in the shadows of the drow and illithids (no pun intended).

Possible connections to the Plane of Shadow would be wonderful.

Hmmmmm...I smell an article in the works...

My players know Drow and Illithids backwards. But Duergar, "Duer.. what?!" Yes - then the screaming begins.... WAHAHA!!!

I voted "Other"... I have to go with the Kuo-toa... can't believe they're not one of the primary selections!!!

Big-eyed fishmen that can see past figments, invisibility, into the ethereal, can make lightning bolts, have slippery skin and adhesive shields, and live among ancient cities with temples to Tharizdun which sunk beneath dark seas... totally the coolest underdark denizens!!!!
